Mary Pyche, my painting adventures
Mary's Daily Art Report

November 2007

I've had a long summer, sorry I haven't updated this "news" section. I've even been to New Mexico again on a painting workshop with Julie Airoldi in October. It seems that it's so much easier to update the blog, so please check in on that instead of this section for news of my current exploits.

May 2007

I'm traveling this weekend on an art gallery tour of Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos with four friends. See my blog for pictures.

April 2007

I now have a blog, accessable from the front page of my web site and at www.pyche-art.blogspot.com. I've been out twice with Kevin's painting group, both times it was freezing cold, but nice weather should arrive this weekend. I've agreed to assist Kevin organize his Monhegan workshop in August and might attend Michael Chesley Johnson's workshop the week after that in Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada. I've been busy framing, using my new chop saw, and have framed pretty much everything. I'm entering the "Painted Word" show at NAA on Monday. I'm back doing a few abstract works for the June Abstract show at NBPT NAA, and I'm thinking about what I should do about trying to get accepted for the upcoming regional juried show the end of May. I'm going to New Mexico on May 6th with my friend, Judy, and three other women for a gallery tour. The prize-winning painting "Otter Cliffs" was purchased by a couple who had visited there and thought that the color of the rocks and the feeling of the place was well-captured in the work. I've been doing the life drawing sessions on Wednesday nights at NAA. I'll be out and about the local area with Kevin Shea and the plein air group every Tuesday for the next 8 weeks starting April 10th.

I have a painting ready for the "Painted Word" show at NAA the end of this month--see it under "Abstracts". Also I have a few new ones in progress, see them under "work in progress".

March 2007

Two of my paintings were accepted into the Newburyport Art Association current juried members show and won a prize for Otter Cliffs!

While in Florida in February I took a few classes in Florida at Indian Rocks Beach with Judy and Larry Pumfrey and I did a life drawing class in Punta Gorda and saw the Annual Naples Art Festival in Naples.

I will have a number of paintings at the Abstract Group Show at Newburyport Art Association the last week of June 2007.

April and May 2007

Torn between landscape and abstract, what a place to be in. Since the nice weather is arriving, the focus will be on landscape or plein air painting. I will attend weekly plein air sessions with the Kevin Shea Plein Air Workshop for 8 weeks.

June 2007

I have been working on framing skills and getting ready for the New England Abstract Artists show at the Newburyport Art Association which will be held from June 25 to July 4, 2007.
